Glossary of Learning Terms > B > Beta Version/Beta Test

Part of the quality assurance process and one of the last steps before development is complete. Beta testing generally takes place after the initial Alpha version is tested by the development team and revisions are made. A beta version of the course or program is provided to the client for testing by stakeholders, subject matter experts and sometimes a small group of sample users. Feedback from this testing is incorporated into the final release of the product. See also Alpha Version/Alpha Test, Quality Assurance, Piloting.
