Glossary of Learning Terms > L > Learning Objective

A specific, measurable statement of what the learner will be able to do at the end of the objective or course, stated in behavioral terms (i.e., the behavior you can observe). It describes the intended outcome of instruction (what the learners will be able to do) rather than a description or summary of the training content (what the instructor will teach). Instructional objectives consist of three elements: performance, conditions and criterion. See also Performance, Conditions, Criterion.
