Elearning specialist (contract)

Limestone Learning is looking for a Canada-based elearning specialist to join our team. This role is a blend of individual contribution and team collaboration and will continue to evolve as we grow. Our elearning specialists typically work on contract on a per-project basis.

The successful candidate will possess a blend of solid instructional design capabilities, elearning experience, creativity, excellent writing and editing skills, and a strong, dependable work ethic. We’re looking for an elearning instructional designer that we can count on to create awesome work with great attention to detail and exceed client expectations. Does that sound like you?

Must-haves

  • Strong portfolio of previous elearning design and development work.

  • Proven experience designing creative learning solutions and developing them using Articulate Storyline and Articulate Rise.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

  • Capable of working effectively to a timeline and budget.

Core responsibilities

  • Designing and executing on deliverables (instructional design plans, outlines, storyboards, voiceover scripts, course builds, etc.) that align with scope and are realistic, thorough and complete.

  • Assessing source materials for each project to understand the core intent, identify gaps, and gather questions.

  • Working with team members, clients and subject matter experts to close content gaps and establish learning architecture. 

  • Bringing each project to life through instructionally sound, creative, and immersive design.

  • Working with graphic designers to establish appropriate design templates and carrying these through in project builds.

  • Following company and client processes and standards.

  • Managing work time effectively, tracking hours and meeting deadlines. 

  • Maintaining a high level of attention to detail: developing materials that are grammatically correct and error-free, and listening to and delivering on client’s true needs.

  • Troubleshooting technical issues related to development tools and content delivery platforms.

  • Working closely with project managers to keep them informed regarding project scope and timeline.

  • Receiving feedback from internal and external sources in a professional manner and integrating it into project deliverables.

  • Communicating effectively with all project team members. 

  • Providing exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders.

Skills, qualifications and experience

  • A minimum of 5 years’ successful experience designing and developing elearning.

  • Strong knowledge of instructional design methodologies and approaches.

  • Proven ability to develop courses using elearning authoring tools, such as Articulate Storyline, Articulate Rise, Vyond, Lectora, Adobe Captivate, Composica and Camtasia.

  • Familiarity with SCORM technical standards and learning management systems (LMS).

  • Familiarity with Section 508 and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 standards for compliance.

  • Proficiency using scheduling, productivity, and communication tools, including Gantt charts, spreadsheets, and conferencing systems. 

  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and SharePoint, particularly as used in the development of instructional content. 

  • Proficiency in project management and project scoping.

  • High quality standards and excellent attention to detail.

  • Strong writing and editing skills.

Instructional designer (contract)

Editor / quality control specialist (contract) 

Limestone Learning is looking for an experienced Canada-based editor / quality control specialist to join our team. This role is a blend of individual contribution and collaboration with our team. It is an hourly contract-based position that will continue to evolve as we grow.

The successful candidate will work with our team to ensure the accuracy of language and the functionality of our learning solutions. They will have a strong background in editing and quality assurance (QA). 

We’re looking for an editor / quality control specialist with extreme attention to detail and a passion for excellence to help us exceed our clients’ expectations. Does this sound like you?

  • Copy edit/review documentation to ensure standardization in style, layout, design and grammar, and adherence to editing standards.

  • Review and test elearning builds to ensure correct functionality and adherence to standards and templates.

  • Give/receive feedback to/from internal and external sources in a professional manner.

  • Work with Limestone’s senior leadership team on continuous process improvement and development of quality control tools and documentation.

  • Maintain a high level of attention to detail: developing materials that are high quality, grammatically correct and error-free.

  • Follow company and client processes and standards.

  • Work closely with project managers to keep them informed regarding project scope and timeline.

  • Manage work time effectively, tracking hours and meeting deadlines.

  • Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure project success.

  • Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications 

  • A minimum of five years’ successful experience in technical editing and/or QA.

  • Professional certification in editing and/or quality QA.

  • Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail.

  • Familiarity with common editing standards, e.g., Canadian Press Stylebook, Chicago Manual of Style.

  • Proficiency using scheduling, productivity, and communication tools, including Gantt charts, spreadsheets, and conferencing systems.

  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications, including correct application of Word styles and PowerPoint themes.

  • Successful experience working to project budgets and timelines.

  • Exceptional troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

  • Previous experience working in learning and development is an asset.

Other requirements 

  • We work collaboratively in-person with our team members and clients on many projects subject to data sovereignty and data residency requirements; therefore, the successful candidate must be based in Canada.

Elearning course authors (contract)

Our contract course authors build elearning courses using course development tools, following storyboards and guidelines established by instructional designers. Ideal candidates are based in Canada, and have:

  • Experience with a variety of course development tools, particularly Articulate Storyline and Articulate Rise.

  • A proven track record/portfolio of successful courses authored.

  • A creative approach and a visually appealing style.

  • A solid technical understanding of how courses integrate with learning management systems, and the ability to troubleshoot.

  • Mobile design experience.

  • Familiarity with Section 508 and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 standards for compliance.
